Key Club is the student side of Kiwanis. The students run it; we charter it, fund it and show up.
Graduating seniors from the five Key Clubs the club sponsors. Applications open in January and close in the spring; the committee reads every one and the awards are handed over at the school's own ceremony.
The number of scholarships and the amount of each is set by the board every year against what the club raised. That figure is published in the annual report rather than promised here.

Key Clubs start in the fall with whatever the school year throws at them: a food drive, a park cleanup, reading to younger kids. The club charters them, pays the international dues and sends a member to the meetings, and mostly stays out of the way.
In January the scholarship window opens, and the seniors who have been doing the work all along are the ones with something to write about. That is the design: the scholarship is not a prize for an essay, it is the last step of four years of showing up.
Advisors change, and when they do the club is usually the last to know. Write to the scholarships role address and it reaches whoever holds the job this year, not whoever held it when the page was written.
